Tax Tips

2013 Tax Returns .. the Bureau will has begun  processing the 2013 income tax returns! The Bureau offers the following tax tips to ensure the efficient processing of your return:

1.   Virgin Islands residents must file their income tax   returns with the Bureau of Internal Revenue.

2.  Make sure all names and social security numbers  on your tax return matches the names and social security number on your social security card.

3.  Sign all returns.

4.  Include correct mailing address.

5.  No electronic filings options are available.

6.  All checks must be made payable to the Bureau of  Internal Revenue.

7.  Make sure all attachments are securely stapled to the return: (a) Be sure to attach Copy B of all Forms W2/VI and (b) Attach all applicable schedules such as Schedule EIC (Earned Income Credit), Schedule 2 or Form 2441 (Child and Dependent Care Expenses).

8.  Self Employment Tax (Form 1040SS) and Schedule H (Household Employment Tax) are filed and paid to the Internal Revenue Service - PO Box 1303 Charlotte, NC 28201-1303 and returns without payment to Internal Revenue Service - Austin, Tx 73301-0215.

9.  Automatic Extension - Taxpayers who are unable to file by the due date must properly estimate the tax due and file a valid extension by April 15th.

10.  Include a daytime telephone number

11.  Make copies of returns before filing.  If you require a stamped copy, you must submit the copy with the original
